INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN FOR TIBET

Light of Truth Award

Light of Truth Award

The Light of Truth Award is the highest honor bestowed by the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) to recognize individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to the public understanding of Tibet and the promotion of human rights and democratic freedoms. Established in 1995, the award’s cause is rooted in the preservation of the Tibetan people's unique cultural, religious, and linguistic identity in the face of political repression. Its objective is to highlight the "light" that global advocacy draws to the Tibetan struggle, symbolized by the presentation of a traditional Tibetan butter lamp. The award's mission is to empower global voices that challenge injustice through non-violence and dialogue, while its vision aligns with a future where the Tibetan people can exercise self-determination and live with dignity. By celebrating international solidarity, the award seeks to ensure that the "power of truth" remains a central force in resolving the Tibet-China dispute and promoting global peace.
